Carousels and Rotators

These carousels are typically custom made for each customer’s specific application. Designed for maximum output, the carousel can be semi automated or fully automated with computerized indexing and pre-programmed weld parameters.

A 20-station carousel with quick change drum to allow parts to be loaded while alternate drum is being used for welding. Ideal for high production, this unit features spring-loaded holders and is light in weight. A 12-station carousel for fitting into an 18 inch cubed chamber. This one has self contained motors for rotation, indexing and linear functions which produce multiple, oval-shaped welds on each component. A 12 station carousel which fits into an 18” cubed (or larger) vacuum chamber. This one has variable speed rotation and also moves in the X axis to permit parallel circumferential welds on each part.

The glove box is used for laser, and micro resistance spot (seal) welding in a controlled atmosphere. Typically, an argon/helium mix is used for this process. Parts are evacuated and back filled with the gas mixture and passed into the glove box for the laser or resistance spot welding.A 10-station carousel designed for use in a 12 inch cubed chamber with manual or automatic welding options. Live centers are fitted to the tailstock to hold parts that require clamping during welding. The units can be used in the horizontal or vertical configuration. A motor mounted on the carousel plate drives the spindles and the indexing is done via the, one-inch diameter, mounting shaft.

This Rotary Manipulator is called a “Rotangle” because it rotates a work-piece at various angles between 0º and 90º. This Rotary Manipulator is called a "Rotangle" because it rotates a work-piece at various angles between 0° and 90°. It is designed for loading while in the beam welder chamber, or when removed from the chamber. It is fitted with a "curly" cable for this purpose.

Work-pieces or work-holders are held in the collet chuck, which has a run out of less than 0.001" (0.03 mm). The size range is 1/16” to 1" diameter (1.6 x 25 mm). There is a through hole of 1" (25 mm). With the use of stepper motors the unit has a very wide speed range so that small and large diameter parts can be welded with the required welding speed.

The Rotangle is mounted on a stand so that its height can be adjusted to suit the specified working distance. An optional Tailstock can be fitted that runs on two rails attached to the headstock. These rails are removable when not in use.
